New Approach at This Site for 2008
January 7, 2008 | Anita Campbell
I’ve decided that for 2008 I will focus more effort on this site to compiling lists of resources and information kits.
What do I mean by this?
Well, I regularly get asked to identify resources for clients and entities that sell to small businesses. Here are some examples of the resources I get asked for:
- small business events where you can be a sponsor or speak at the event
- podcasts in the small business space where a company spokesperson can be interviewed
- sources of research about the small business market
- best practices to reach the small business market
- sites (including blogs) that will publish new product announcements
These are just the tip of the iceberg.
Most companies do not have the luxury of staff and time to dig around and uncover this information. Plus, it’s not just a matter of doing some quick Google searches. You really have to know where to look in the first place. You also have to understand the lay of the land. Substantial human judgment comes into play.
So, rather than simply writing blog posts that discuss issues — which feels rather random sometimes — I will also focus attention on pulling together information kits. Look for this in 2008.
I’ve started by setting up a simple page entitled “Small Business Lists,” which I will use as an index of all such lists and information kits. It’s not pretty, but it’s a start. Always start small and build incrementally is my philosophy.
